The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR) is your source for commuter rail services in the Boston metropolitan area.
We serve more than 140,000 passengers each work day on 465 trains operating on 13 lines that extend as far north as Newburyport and Rockport; as far west as Worcester and Fitchburg; as far east as Kingston and Middleboro; and as far south as Providence, Rhode Island.
MBCR is a partnership among three leading transportation companies:
Veolia Transportation, Bombardier and Alternate Concepts, Inc. It was chosen by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to manage and operate the Boston commuter rail system, effective July 1, 2003.
Our partners’ collective transportation management experience helps the MBTA continue to provide the innovative, professional and safe commuter rail service its passengers expect and deserve.
