Recruitment Process
MBCR is an equal opportunity employer, and offers competitive salaries and benefits. Open positions are posted on the website and in our office at 89 South Street in Boston.  MBCR also has a Jobs Hotline 1-866-MBCR-JOB (1-866-622-7562) which is updated weekly.

Applicants may apply online or stop by our offices during the hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. 

Once you have applied for a posted position, you may be required to take a skills assessment test.  If successful, you may be asked to interview for the position.  Interviews are conducted by the recruiter and the hiring manager.

MBCR requires that all candidates for employment pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.  In addition, some positions require a pre-employment physical exam which could include a vision and hearing test.  MBCR conducts background checks on all candidates for employment including a criminal history record check.

For the safety of our passengers, employees and the public, MBCR is a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace.  Most positions are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

The employment process can vary and can take from 2 weeks to 6 weeks to complete.

About Our Organization
MBCR operates the MBTA Commuter Rail Service and is responsible for:
Maintaining the locomotives and coaches, stations and infrastructure
Staffing a dedicated commuter rail Customer Service Center for the system's passengers.

Operating trains and providing on-board safety and fare collection.

Developing training programs for engineering, maintenance, transportation and customer service.

Inspecting infrastructure, locomotives and coaches and developing replacement and capital investment programs

Developing information systems to support the operation.
